SICILY
Lot. 663 1859 - 1gr light olive brown, plate II, 5gr carmine, plate I, 10gr dark blue and 50gr lake brown on cover from “MESa 1859 / 1 AGOS°” to Genoa “with the French Postal Service,” taxed upon arrival “6” tenths of a lira for Sardinia’s third port. 10gr partially raised for verification of the 50gr with large margins. Extremely rare, fine and attractive piece. Starting price: € 20.000
TUSCANY
Lot.720 1860 - orange ochre 3L with large margins on three sides, canceled “PER CONSEGNA” (for delivery). Extremely fine, one of the rarest stamps from the Italian States. Quoted € 220.000 by Sassone, it is proposed on sale from € 22.000
ITALIAN KINGDOM
Lot. 1036 1874 - 2c brown red with altered corners for overseas post offices but not overprinted, mint with traces of the original gum. Very rare, one of the few existing copies. Starting price: €6.000
Lot. 1063 1866 - 40c carmine pink and 60c dark lilac, both De La Rue Issue, Turin printing, on cover from “TORINO UFF.SUCCURSALE N.1 21 DEC 69” to Hong-Kong, via Brindisi and “ALEXANDRIA JA 1 70”, then forwarded to Saigon, Cocincine. It was addressed to a sailor of the corvette Principessa Maria Clotilde, at that time sailing in the China Sea. Very rare and extremely fine, it is the only cover known both to Hong-Kong and to Saigon, prior to the establishment of the UPU. Proposed at a starting price: € 2.800
